My name is Katie Richards and I have a doctorate in occupational therapy from The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. I spent the last eight months of my degree completing a capstone project to address parent education and home program implementation for individuals with sensory modulation disorder. I designed an online educational resource for parents, families, teachers, and community members on sensory modulation disorder, the sensory systems, transitions, and various therapeutic activities to address sensory modulation disorder in the home. My undergraduate degree is in Kinesiology with a minor in Theology from Anderson University in South Carolina.
I am originally from Lebanon, OH and moved to Charlotte when I was eight. I am a huge family person. I am one of four siblings. My brother and I are Irish twins (we were born exactly one year apart, both November birthdays). My brother has global developmental delays and has been a major influence on my career path towards occupational therapy. I have two younger sisters as well.
My favorite pastimes include cooking, especially new recipes, reading, working out, and playing/watching sports. I am attempting to learn golf. The Clemson Tigers are my team and chocolate chip cookies are my weakness.
