Hi everyone, my name is Jessie Angelo. I was raised in Connecticut and stayed there for college as well. After graduating undergrad I took a leap of faith and moved out to Denver, CO. I loved it, but I was tired of being cold. I moved to Charlotte in 2018 and that was it for me. I finished my master’s in social work through Fordham University where I interned with Agape Hospice in Rock Hill, SC. During my graduate program I worked with kids as a behavior technician.
Once I completed my program I landed a job with Catholic Charities through their new VA grant program, which allowed me to work with veterans who were experiencing homelessness. It was an amazing job, but I was ready for a change. Most recently I worked at Sharon Towers in Charlotte, working primarily on care plan management for geriatrics who live in assisted living or health care. Although I loved my residents and the work I did, I knew it was time for me to jump back into the realm of children, particularly children with special needs. Working as a behavior technician during graduate school was one of my favorite jobs and it made me the social worker I am today. My lifelong goal is to one day learn and master animal therapy, which would allow me to incorporate it into my everyday therapeutic plans of care.
Aside from my work and school experience I enjoy my time to decompress. I have two dogs of my own. I spend a lot of time pretending to know how to train dogs when in reality I spend most of that time spoiling them and telling them they are perfect.
