Amber A.
Amber Lynn Alvira, BCBA is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst born and raised in Long Island, NY.
Amber earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology at SUNY Old Westbury, NY. She developed a love for working with children with autism and other developmental disabilities while working as a NYS level III certified teaching assistant at Developmental Disabilities Institute in the Young Autism Program. Here, Amber provided ABA therapy to preschool aged children in a classroom with a ratio of 1:3:8.
While working on her graduate degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Long Island University POST, she worked as a Behavior Specialist at Eden II Programs/Genesis School, an intensive behavior outreach clinic utilizing ABA techniques for children ages 5-21.
Amber’s experiences have included severe behaviors, early intervention, social skills, functional communication training, verbal behavior training, parent training, staff training, and functional analyses.
Amber also has experience with conducting assessments such as VB-MAPP and ABLLS-R. She values evidence-based practices and promoting effective and scientifically-based procedures with her clients.
Amber was published in Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology in 2019 when she was an assistant researcher during her undergraduate career in 2016.
In her spare time Amber enjoys hanging out with her daughter, playing with her dog, cooking, and reading.
