Occupational Therapist, Matthews

Alyssa is originally from Rochester, NY and graduated from Nazareth College with her Master’s in Occupational Therapy. She served as a fellow through the University of Rochester’s Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program, which focused on training medical professionals in client and family centered care, disability policy awareness, and advocacy. Alyssa comes to the Charlotte area from Boston where she worked for the last few years in the pediatric outpatient and school setting treating infants to teenagers. She has experience with sensory integration techniques, Handwriting Without Tears, self-regulation, and motor planning. Alyssa has taken continued education courses in NDT Infant Handling, Executive Function, and the SOS Approach to Feeding. Alyssa is passionate about using her creativity and craftiness to come up with goal oriented activities based on her client’s interests. In her free time, she enjoys baking, swimming, traveling, and being around dogs.
